I know you can't live your life by song lyrics but The Wonder Years is the soundtrack of my life right now.

I have spent this entire week behind a computer. My eyes feel like they are going to bleed out. My joints are stiffer than my 91 year old grandmother. My brain is mooshier than pudding.

First major paper due tomorrow.
Driving to Montgomery Friday.
Driving to Tallahassee Saturday.
Teaching Bible class Sunday.
Second major paper due Tuesday.

I will be consuming a lot of Red Bull in the next couple of days.

on the upsides, The Wonder Years was soooooooo fun Wednesday night. Hopefully pictures soon. and I'm looking forward to seeing K-Sloan and the Gump crew and some skateboarding this weekend.

Obligatory Grammy Post

who is this "Taylor Swift?" Oh, that chick who got interrupted by that one guy.

who is this "Green Day?" They cannot be the same guys who made Dookie.

who is this "Lady Gaga?" uhhhhhhhhhh, unoriginal music with an ex-David Bowie, Boy George fashion designer?

On another note, I can't wait to get my sing-a-long on with THE WONDER YEARS

// 02.03.10 @ THE FARSIDE.

Stretch Arm Strong Goodness

01.16.10 Stretch Arm Strong final show
If MxPx was the first "punk" band I listened to in the day,
Stretch Arm Strong was the first "hardcore" band I got into. Ironically through a Tooth and Nail
DVD sampler Russ got because MxPx was on it.

Righteous jams. Killer times. So glad I went.

(1:27) singing with Chris McLane // "The Sound of Names Dropping"

(3:15) being tossed around like a beach ball // "Faces"
I LOVE IT.

new blog post over at exist. if you ain't on tumblr, get on tumblr and follow that junk.

i haven't been able to hook up comments yet, but i'm working on it. when i do, you can rip me a fast one for quoting:

"Now, let me say this, in conclusion: I do believe that God can speak to us.
He can do anything he wants, of course. I just don’t think it’s nearly as often
as people claim, as evidenced by all the misuse and failed prophetic
claims.”
- relevantmagazine.com

you can read it HERE.

also, i got a very weird text with a picture of a large half naked black man that said:

"This fool says he dated u back in da day & he wanted ur number. You
want me to give it to him?"

i haven't replied but i am worried.

some [personal] thoughts on fasting...

This January I made a covenant not to eat meats or sweets. It started off really great but in the last waning days of the month, (the last couple weeks) when I was craving a juicy burger or a pepperoni pizza, instead of dedicating myself to prayer-- I'm counting down the days and dreaming of stuffing my face while watching the Super Bowl. (Geaux Saints?)

A fast without prayer is just a diet and even as far as dieting is concerned it's not looking very well. It's tough to eat healthy/ vegetarian when your bank account is resting at $35.00... a week and a half before payday. Cause I spent it on the essentials: new skate deck and wheels. And sadly Taco Bell is the most accommodating restaurant for those of us going without meats/sweets/happiness: my TB consumption has increased 10 fold. Hello, 79 cents crispy potato taco.

So after doing some reevaluating, here is what I am looking at: yes, the fasting of foods is the most basic and most Biblical means of fasting. And it is crucial to a deeper spiritual walk. But let's be honest: food is not why we can't find time for God. In fact for many westerners it is the only time people find time to pray. Time in and of itself is why I can't find time for the Creator. So what is my number 1 waste of time?

As embarrassingly typical of a teenage girl it is: facebook. So I am done. For a while. I'm too scared to tally up the total hours spent on facebook but I do know that periods like in between classes at school can be spent doing my daily Bible reading rather than online. (Plus an additional minimum of 140 pages a week of required historical literature for just one class). I did that today and it was great, plus, no one writes on my wall anyway.

I am making a covenant to set myself apart sans facebook. Supplemented with periodical oh-so important physical fasting.

I'm telling you this only as encouragement and accountability. Maybe you struggle too with finding time for the Creator. And if you see me "online" you have permission to punch me in the gut.

"First, let fasting be done unto the Lord with our eye singly fixed on Him. Let our intention herein be this, and this alone, to glorify our Father which is in heaven." - John Wesley

overly cynical post

sometimes you just got to let it out: a brief list of current annoyances.

guys who twirl their pencil between their fingers

guys who give other guys high-fives when they answer a question right

guys who twirl their pencil between their fingers and give other guys high-fives when they answer a question right

girls who cup their hands in the shape of hearts for facebook photos

girls who insist "it's warmer" only wearing tights.

girls who claim to be low maintenance when in actuality require more maintenance than your vehicle.

(watch out, these girls are likely to wear tights and make "hand hearts" in their pictures)

people who use the letter "z" as a substitution for the letter "s"

people who use "ai" as a substitution for the letter "i"

people who post pictures of cats, kittens and other "adorable" animals with the aforementioned over use of the letter "z" and "ai"

Jay Leno and the NBC executives.

relax, it's all in good fun. except the last one.
